The Conference Math
Decide whether an event is worth the real cost
I am deciding whether to attend or sponsor this event: [EVENT, TICKET OR SPONSOR COST, TRAVEL COST, DAYS AWAY, WHO ATTENDS]. Do the full math: the all-in cost including my days and the work that stalls while I am gone, the three ways this could pay back (pipeline, hires, learning) with a number on each, the cheaper way to get the same outcome if one exists, and the conditions under which the answer flips. End with go, send someone cheaper, or skip - and if go, the plan that makes the payback happen instead of hoping it does.
Inputs needed
- ■Event, ticket/sponsor cost, travel cost, days away, attendee profile
What good output looks like
All-in cost includes days and stalled work, not just the ticket; payback paths carry numbers; the cheaper substitute is honestly considered; a clear call with a payback plan
